a/n: even through these very trying times, writing smut Is unironically how i manage to cheer myself up and calm tf down. in light of recent political events + due to an influx of followers + my last drabble blowing the fuck up (almost at 2,000 notes wtf), i just wanted to state once and for all that my work is for black! readers and black readers only. even if i don't give physical descriptions, even if i don't talk about their hair or skin tone, i write for MY people. if you aren't black, i'm not going to forbid you from interacting with my blog, but respectfully (or disrespectfully), know your place. anyways, on with the show lovelies <3

"shh shh shhh. that's it cupcake, biggggg stretch. see, we're halfway there already"
you whimpered into vi's shoulder as she continued to push inside of you, your pussy eager and dripping as it struggled to accommodate the strap's girth. you had a pillow propped right up under your hips, with one leg being pressed to your shoulder and the other wrapping around her waist.
you were being ripped apart from the inside out, and all that sick fuck above you could do was laugh.
"oh my baby." she wiped the tears off your round cheeks, gripping your chin lightly as she gave a sharp rotation of her hips. "i know, i know. vi is just so, so mean to you. isn't she?" another harsh thrust had you choking on your answer, a large and creamy and loud burst of slick gushing out of you at the impact.
she hums, looking down at you almost thoughtfully as she begins to lightly dip into you, torturing you with the thickness of her cock that you still have yet to take fully. she lightly pinches your clit between her pointer finger and thumb, rolling the bud gently before giving it a slap. there were several strings of you connecting her hand to your pussy; you were so wet that there was a puddle beneath you the size of a damn pumpkin. and yet, vi still wasn't satisfied.
"so damn pretty. try to keep it in though, yeah? can't fuck you properly if you keep squeezing out my cock."

“Oh no no no!!” You sobbed slapping your husbands cheek gently to wake him up. You found him passed out, third time this week. His dress shirt drenched in blood, bullet holes decorating the front making you cry hard. Tears staining your cheeks as you quickly rushed to the bathroom for first aid kit and to pull out the harming bullets. “Please.. please..” you sniffled ripping the front of his shirt buttons scattering all over the place. Grabbing your medical pliers you didn’t hesitate to dive inside the bullet holes in his chest, pulling one after one out. You cleaned the blood in process, the fresh one which pooled out of his wounds. You couldn’t stop crying— your heart held so much pain and grief. “You can’t die on me.. not like this. God I love you so much please don’t..” you slapped his cheek gentle to possibly wake him but he wouldn’t. The healing of his wounds were so slow.. even slower than a week ago. You did this few times.. he woke up right after but now he wouldn’t. You cried against his shoulder gently removing his ruined dress shirt. You washed his chest gently with a warm damp cloth, his face too, his hands. You kissed his knuckles where his claws would come out but now he was only laying on your bed. “Lo.. please..” you sighed with pain climbing on the bed right next to him snuggling to his side. “I know your body aches, I know but just.. come back to me. I will take care of you” you sobbed kissing his bearded cheek caressing his chest where his heart supposed to beat wildly by now but it didn’t. Another wave of pain hit you. “Please..!” You cried even harder.
The faint heartbeat returned, you knew that he lived. He was just too tired, in too much pain to wake up, he needed rest. So much of rest. Although.. he swore that he would never take the mutant cure you feared that it was the answer to your prayers at the moment. Opening the drawer on your bedside table you pulled out the cure. You could use only a little bit to heal him, only a tiny bit. Lo hated that you’ve spend so much money on it, nearly your whole pay check because you wanted to heal him. He’d rather suffer and get through it alone than to use the cure. You cried desperately waiting another moment before gently injecting a tiny bit of the cure in his vein. You watched his wounds heal away like magic, his heartbeat getting stronger. His breathing returning back to normal, you thanked god silently in between sobs. Putting away the cure you hugged him close to you pulling the covers over your bodies resting your cheek on his naked chest. You had no strength to move, you wanted to be close to your husband. You felt his arms coil around you and you closed your eyes crying with happiness. Tears streaming down your cheeks you let out a huff. “Shhh..” Lo whispered to you holding his eyes closed feeling healed, his body feeling like new and all thanks to you. “I’m so sorry kid..” he breathed out kissing your forehead. “I’m fucking sorry for giving you so much pain.” He sighed running his big calloused hand over your back. “Don’t say that.. I want all of your worries, all of the pain, I want to take it all away I’m your wife” you cried looking up at him still resting your cheek on his chest. “I can’t give it to you kid.. only my love” you closed your eyes at his words with a broken whimper. His thumb wiping away your tears “Thank you..” he added kissing your forehead again. “Shhh..baby” you climbed on top of him burying your face in his neck.
A faint smile appeared on his face, he held you close to him. Even closer than before “I can’t lose you, I can’t leave you Lo..” you whispered your chest hurting immensely at the thought of losing him. “You won’t. I’m still here..” he added reassuring you. “C’here kid.. kiss me” he breathed before he captured your mouth in a loving kiss. You kissed him more urgently to be sure he’s healed and that he’s there with you this wasn’t a dream. “My love” you let out a soft moan wrapping your arms around his neck and he hummed at the closeness. Your legs nearly curled around his waist “you tiny monkey, you won’t let me go will you now?” You shook your head resting your cheek to his. “I love you..” he smiled snuggling you close. Your core was pressing to his growing bulge “S’not this old man’s fault- you’re clingin’ and tellin’ me you love me” he let out a chuckle “and rubbin yourself on me.. fuck” you giggled at his words loving that he was back. “I’ll take care of you my love” you blushed kissing his lips. Lo’s kiss was needier than yours this time. All that crying and sobbing was quickly exchanged for moans and whimpers, he used that extra energy to love on you.

Petals of Affection - Part I
A floral mystery in three parts featuring Jackson!Joel x f!reader
Summary: A secret admirer gifts you a different flower and a riddle ten times before you put the clues together and discover that he's been right in front of your face the whole time.
Written for @morallyinept's Flora & Fauna challenge. Please check out all the wonderful works created in Jett's honor!
I know enough about flowers to fill a thimble. Really, all I know is how to kill them, accidentally or otherwise. Everything to do with the flowers in this story is courtesy of Google, so please suspend disbelief at how some of these could exist in Wyoming, yada yada. I just picked ones that fit the narrative.
Word count: 4,284
Warnings: 18+ MDNI, humor, cursing, gratuitous use of poor floral descriptions, scheming, clueless reader, fluff, eventual smut, alcohol, food, coffee, terms of endearment. POV flops around like a fish outta water. Reader has no physical description aside from having hair that gets frizzy with humidity and often dirt-covered hands, because greenhouses, ya know? No use of y/n, none whatsoever.
Dividers courtesy of the wonderful @saradika-graphics. Gif chosen because of the wonderful floral wallpaper ;)
Hope you enjoy!
Part II | Part III | Masterlist
An oasis in a world rife with death and devastation, you clung to the life the reinforced walls of Jackson offered. After years of struggling to survive each new day, you felt like you could finally take a deep breath. Everyone was no nice and welcoming, some more than others, and you slipped right into the fabric of the small community.
Within a month of your arrival, Maria assigned you to the greenhouses, having picked up on your knowledge and love of plants – particularly flowers. You must have bored her to death one too many times regaling the language of flowers over a bottle or two of aged wine while seated together on her couch. The two of you became fast friends, the kind that felt like you’ve known each other forever. It was exactly what you needed, longed for even, after long bouts of solitude.
Being close to Maria meant you visited their house often. And equally often, you would find Joel Miller there, deep in conversation with his brother about one matter or another. His eyes always flashed when you entered the house, and he’d stop mid-sentence to greet you with an effortless, “Howdy darlin’” as you followed Maria to the kitchen.
Soon enough, the soft greetings turned into more substantial conversation as the four of you dined together or gathered at Maria and Tommy’s for game night, playing whatever new board game the men found while on patrol. Laughter and friendly arguments filled the air on those nights, making it easier than ever to forget about the carnage and desolation beyond the walls.
Tonight, the four of you played Scrabble – it took Tommy finding three sets of the game to get all the letter tiles required to actually play – and your belly hurt from how hard you laughed whenever Maria challenged Joel on a word. He was better at the game than you would have thought – his reserved nature and southern twang not giving away how well-read he was.
“Denied! Fartlek is not a word, Joel. There’s no way!” Maria insisted, not willing to give into Joel’s apparent triple word score on the word that would have him take the lead in total score.
“Is to a word,” Joel returned stubbornly, refusing to remove the letters from the board. “Look it up if ya don’t believe me. It’s in the fuckin’ Oxford dictionary.”
“Oh, it is, is it? Is it in the Cambridge one, too? What does it mean then?” Maria wasn’t backing down, ripping a battered dictionary right out of Tommy’s hands to see for herself.
“Hey! I was looking it up,” Tommy yelped, shooting a wink at you as you both watched the drama unfold.
Ignoring his brother, Joel rattled off something about the word being related to running. At least, that’s what you thought he said, you were too busy fighting back tears from laughing too hard. Sure enough, he was right.
“Well, I’ll be damned,” Maria grumbled, flopping back into the couch cushions. “It’s a training technique for running. Screw you, Miller.”
Unsurprisingly, the game ended shortly thereafter with Joel the victor by a healthy margin. After helping to clean up, you offered appreciation and hugs to Maria and Tommy for a delightful evening. “Next time, let’s play something less…”
“Cerebral?” Maria supplied with a frown.
“Annoying?” Tommy interjected with a grin.
Joel stayed quiet, a half-smile gracing his lips as he waited for you to finish your sentence.
“Just something that doesn’t require a dictionary or cause so much arguing,” you laughed. Waving between Joel and Maria, you added, “You two can never agree on anything! See you all tomorrow.”
“I’ll walk you home, darlin’,” Joel said, rushing to put his jacket and boots on and catch up with you. When you opened your mouth to let him know you’d be fine on your own, he added, “Gotta check in on Ellie anyway.”
Maria and Tommy shared a look as Joel opened the door to usher you through. You caught them and frowned, feeling like you weren’t in on a joke or something.
The two of you walked in comfortable silence, the last remnants of winter’s snowy wrath crunching beneath your boots the only sound. You looked up at the night sky as you walked, gasping at the flash of colors in the otherwise darkened sky. Joel stopped, following your gaze upwards as you both stood mouths agape.
“That’s the northern lights, right? I’ve never seen it before.”
“Mmhmm. Aurora borealis. Pretty amazin’.”
“Beautiful,” you sighed, breath a cloud billowing in the crisp air, eyes soaking in every bit of the cosmic phenomenon.
You didn’t realize it staring up at the sky as you were, but Joel’s umber eyes were fixed on you when he replied, “Sure is.”
You stayed like, shoulders gently bumping as you both enjoyed nature’s show, until the temperature dropped further and you shivered. An awed smile remained plastered on your face the rest of the walk to your house, one Joel would never forget.
The dichotomy of the humid, warm air within the greenhouses and the chilled breeze outside confused your body, but you loved it. Sure, the humidity did nothing good for your hair, leaving it a frizzy mass around your head sometimes, but the dewy feeling on your skin always reminded you of childhood summers spent at the beach.
Tending to the various fruit and vegetable plants all morning, in what you deemed Greenhouse 1, you saved your favorite duties – the ones associated with flowers – for the afternoon. While you enjoyed caring for all the plants, you loved tending to the flowers, humming as you pruned and replanted clippings, expanding your every growing collection. If the patrol teams kept bringing you seeds and specimen back, you’d need yet another greenhouse. The council would just love that.
The creak of the door to Greenhouse Two drew your attention shortly after you switched gears and you stood, brushing the dirt from your jeans before glancing up. Your face shifted into a soft smile at the sight of Joel standing hesitantly just inside the door.
“Hey Joel, what did you bring me today?” You knew he had patrol duty and likely found some interesting plant during his travels. “Better not be western baneberry again. You know how poisonous those berries are!”
Stepping forward, Joel chuckled as you teased him. “I know now! It was one time and you’ll never let me live it down, will ya?” Thrusting his hand toward you, he dropped a small pile of seeds onto your dirt-covered palm. “Not sure what these are, but we found down by the ol’ mill. Might be something cool.”
“Might be,” you hummed, poking the seeds a little. Hopefully the cold didn’t get to them. You grabbed the nearest pot, quickly filled it with soil and sprinkled the seeds in as you tilled the top few inches. “We’ll find out soon enough what kind of treasure these are.”
Leaning back against a messy tabletop, hands on hips, Joel watched you tend to the new addition before finding the perfect place for the pot, nestled on a table amongst other seedlings. “Do you –”
Joel’s mouth snapped shut as the greenhouse door banged open next to him, a boisterous voice carrying into the warm space before its body did.
“Tangerine! Check out what I found today,” Alex, another member of the patrol team, called as he strolled right past Joel without acknowledgement. Younger and not as broad as Joel, the man held a growing affection for you, which irked the older man.
“Alex,” you sighed playfully. He was cute in a youthful, untrained puppy kind of way and had an annoying habit of calling you nicknames that made no sense. “I told you to stop calling me that. We don’t even have tangerines here.”
Snickering under his breath, Joel observed the younger man falling all over himself to impress you. Why you indulged the idiot, he would never understand.
Alex waved you off. “You love it, and you know it. Lookit here,” he said, thrusting his hand toward you. Slight though he was, Alex had large hands, and in his right one were three clusters of small, bell-shaped blooms with a purple hue.
“Prairie bluebell! Where did you find these?” Your face lit up as you took the blooms in a gentle grasp, admiring them for a moment before setting to work on replanting.
Alex prattled on boastfully about finding them just off a rocky path down near the river while Joel focused on watching you work. When Alex finally paused for breath, you chimed in with some flower lore.
“Did you know that bluebells are often called fairy flowers? It is said that the bluebells are rung to summon fairies to a meeting. But, since fairies aren’t always good, the flowers could be enchanted leaving anyone who wanders into a ring of bluebells lost in fairy woods.”
Joel snorted at the idea of Alex becoming lost in fairy woods, never to be found again. If only they could be so lucky, he thought. He knew there was more you could share about the symbolism of the delicate flowers, but it would be lost on someone like Alex.
Rolling his eyes, Joel was about to take his leave when Alex blurted, “Would you join me for dinner tonight? I heard they just got in some fresh venison.”
Absorbed in your work, you hardly heard him, and Alex repeated himself, a hint of annoyance in his tone. Joel froze, holding his breath in anticipation of your answer. Please say no, he thought. You could do so much better than this moron.
Brow furrowed, you stared at Alex, considering your response. “Like a date?”
The younger man nodded eagerly, a broad smile spreading across his lips. You glanced at Joel, not certain what you were hoping to see, and found him staring back, stone faced, arms crossed in front of his chest tightly. Giving you nothing to work with, your shoulders slumped, resigned. “Sure, I guess.”
Not the most enthusiastic answer, but you couldn’t remember the last time you went on a date and Alex was the only one asking.
You didn’t even realize Joel moved until the door closed heavily behind his retreating form.
The breeze carried a sense of change as you strolled home from your shift in the greenhouse. The weather was finally warming, ever so slightly, as Mother Nature loosened her grip on winter, letting spring slowly creep in.
Mixed emotions tumbled through your mind as your feet carried you through the streets of Jackson by muscle memory alone. Alex asking you to dinner caught you off guard – you had a feeling he was interested, but he never made any sort of bold move. The fact he finally did while Joel was standing right there threw you off balance.
Did you even like this guy?
Sure, Alex was attractive, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin. But his personality made him seem more like a golden retriever, goofy and too eager to impress, than someone you could fall for. It made you wonder if there was any substance lurking under the surface.
In the absence of any other offers, did it even matter?
No, you guessed it really didn’t.
These thoughts carried you right to your front steps and you stopped, taken by the presence of something unusual waiting in front of your door.
A solitary stalk with a gorgeous jasmine bloom, a slip of paper wrapped around the stem held in place by nondescript string.
Picking it up, you held the flower to your nose, breathing in the rich, sensual aroma. The scent brightened your mood, and you slipped the scrap of paper from beneath the string. You whispered the words printed in a block scrawl you didn’t recognize.
Joyful moments shared; the answer lies in the air.
What did it mean?
Glancing around, you searched the street and neighboring homes for a sign of who might have left the flower and note for you. The only people in sight were your elderly neighbors, married couples, and the kids from a few houses down. None of them would have left you such a gift.
Who in the world left this for you?
Would Alex do something romantic like this? You doubted it, but what else did you have to go on?
Once inside, you trimmed the stem and put the flower in a container on the counter, placing the scrap of paper in front of it.
You gazed at the flower, mulling over the riddle before you. The note indicated that you’ve shared moments with whomever left the flower. Jasmine itself symbolized love and romance. You made friends with a lot of people since you came to town – too many shared experiences and moments to choose from.
Twenty minutes and too much thinking in circles, you were no closer to understanding the clues and teetering on the verge of being late for your date. You needed more data before hazarding any reasonable guesses.
“Why do you torture yourself like this?” Tommy questioned. Sitting at the bar watching his brother pining over you was not his idea of a fun Friday night. “You should just bite the bullet and ask her out already.”
Joel shook his head. He had no explanation for why he hadn’t made a move yet. For months now, he knew he liked you as more than friends, pined over you in silence, yet he never took the next step. Joel Miller was not a coward, but his fear of losing one of the few friends he had left in the world had him frozen in place, afraid to make any moves. He couldn’t take that chance. Finally putting words to the feelings roiling inside him, he told his brother as much.
“I get it, brother. I do,” Tommy replied, thumping Joel on the back in commiseration. “But can you really say you’re ok watchin’ her go on dates with asshats like Alex? ‘Cause that’s gonna keep happenin’ unless you do something about it. And I don’t mean killin’ the dude.”
Joel shook his head. Hunched over the bar, shooting surreptitious glances your way, he had to admit Tommy was right. He could think of few things worse than watching you go on a date with someone other than him, especially with dipshits like that guy.
“I ain’t killin’ anyone, but I do have a plan. Already put it in motion, in fact.” Picking at a scratch in the bar, Joel shifted his gaze from you to Tommy. “I might need your help with some of it. Maria’s too.”
“Oh yeah? Tell me all about this grand plan then.”
Unsurprisingly, the date was a dud.
Alex had the personality of a goldfish rather than a golden retriever, and the two of you had nothing in common. He also interrupted you mid-sentence no less than three times – once could be considered a mistake, but three times was an unforgiveable offense as far as you were concerned. You stopped making an effort about halfway through dinner and wished for a hole to open up beneath your seat and swallow you whole.
Worst of all, he acted like an entitled dickhead when you refused dessert, thanked him for the date, and let him know there wouldn’t be a second one. He’s lucky you didn’t knee him in the nuts before walking away from the table.
How unfortunate that dating sucked nearly as much now as it did before the fucking apocalypse. It was unfair, really. At what point did being a woman stop sucking?
Lamenting your lack of success in the relationship department, you trudged home. You wondered what Joel was up to – you caught a glimpse of him at the bar with Tommy earlier and he didn’t look happy, but you didn’t see him when you left. Part of you longed to visit him, maybe have a drink and sit on his porch gazing at the stars together like you’ve done before. But it was already late, and you didn’t want to bother him. Hell, he could have a woman over already, which would be mortifying if you interrupted. The thought sank unpleasantly in your mind until you got to your house and pushed it away.
A little gift waited for you on the porch, just like earlier. An orchid this time. Symbol of love, thoughtfulness, and charm. Your index finger traced the delicate petals with the gentlest touch as a smile slowly crept its way across your lips.
Another note was attached, and you plucked it from beneath the same kind of string, eyes devouring the words.
Overwhelmed by your grace, the answer hides in this place.
The flower wasn’t completely cold, so it had to have been left recently. Brow furrowed; you glanced around but there was no one in sight. You wracked your brain trying to figure out the identity of your secret admirer, but you were at a loss. Prior to dinner, you briefly thought Alex was the culprit, but now it was obvious he didn’t have a romantic bone in his lanky body.
You heart knew who it longed for it to be, but you refused to consider it. He didn’t want you that way, of that you were certain.
Giving the orchid the same treatment as the jasmine earlier, you tucked the stem into the same container and placed it on the coffee table so you could admire the blossoms while you fell asleep on the couch. After all, why bother with a big bed without someone to share it with?
Saturdays were your day off, but the sun shining through the curtains you forgot to close the night before ruined your plans of sleeping in. Grumbling at the unnecessary brightness, you stumbled into the kitchen desperate for coffee. The coffee tin felt light in your hand when you reached for it and, sure enough, you saw nothing but a tiny amount of powdery remains of coffee beans at the bottom.
God dammit. Barely eight o’clock in the morning and this day already had two strikes against it. It wasn’t looking good so far.
Not caring that you still wore the clothes from your date the night before, you quickly brushed your teeth and finger-combed your hair into submission before leaving the house. Pausing at the door for a moment, you debated whose house to go to. Joel always had coffee – it was his drug of choice – but Maria and Tommy were closer.
Not awake enough for decision-making, you let your feet carry you in whichever direction they wanted… which was exactly three feet onto the porch before they stopped. Another flower with a note sat waiting for you.
Your mood brightened considerably at the sight of the double-flowered, funnel-shaped Eustoma, petals a pale purple. The rose-like flowers weren’t native to Wyoming, but you got lucky months ago when someone found a seed packet. You were shocked the seeds were still viable. Did someone pluck it from the greenhouse? You gave away a few cuttings not that long ago, but unless they were replanted, there’s no way they’d last this long. It had to be from the greenhouse. Where the hell else would they get one?
The addiction-like need for coffee temporarily forgotten, you rubbed the Eustoma gently against your nose, confirming the lack of scent when you breathed in and wondered what the little note would say this time.
Endless thoughts of you, the answer is in the view.
Stepping back into the house, you added the flower with the others, mulling over the symbolism of the Eustoma. Whoever left it must be trying to tell you that they appreciate and admire you. But when you add it with the others, what did it all mean?
As good as you were with flowers, you were awful at solving mysteries. A detective you were not. Besides, it was still too early for this kind of puzzle.
The desire for coffee returned and you left the flower quandary behind as you made your way to Joel’s.
Joel didn’t expect to see you today, his day looking up when he opened the door to find you on his doorstep. His heart immediately sank when he noticed you wearing the same clothes from the night before, hair mussed.
“Your date must have gone well,” he said, eyes roving over your clothing, knowing his tone was less friendly than you were used to from him. “What are you doin’ here this early?”
You were clearly thrown off kilter by his remark, frowning as he stepped back to let you in.
“Wha—” you started to question him but shook your head. “I just came to see if you had any spare coffee. I ran out without realizing it.”
“Didn’t have any to offer Alex this morning? That’s a damn shame.” Joel felt the heat of your confused gaze on his back as you followed him into the kitchen.
“What are you talking about?” You sighed, staring at him with furrowed brows.
Avoiding your searching gaze, Joel poured a cup of coffee, adding the perfect amount of sugar you liked, and glowered at the cup as he handed it over. “You’re wearing the same clothes as last night. I assume you did the walk of shame this morning only to find you didn’t have any coffee.”
“It’s too early for your judgmental shit, Joel. You can be a real ass sometimes, you know that?” You turned to leave, mind trying to wrap itself around why this day was turning out so oddly. Mercury was in retrograde again, it had to be. You and Joel never spoke to each other like this. As you reached the door, not caring that you basically stole his coffee cup, you called over your shoulder, “And the date wasn’t even like that, for the record.”
“You’re welcome for the coffee,” Joel muttered as you let yourself out of his house.
“You didn’t have to be such a dick, you know.” Ellie appeared around the corner; arms crossed over her chest.
“I know. I couldn’t help it. The thought of her with that jackass just…” he sighed. “I got a little carried away, but it’s fine. The plan is still in play. Did you take care of what I asked you to?”
“You come up with some strange plans, old man. Yeah, I got it done.”
Fed up with the day and everyone in town before noon, you hid away in your house for the rest of the day. The interaction with Joel weighed on you the entire afternoon and well into the night. What was up with him? Were you being too sensitive, taking his comments personally?
If you didn’t know better, you’d think he was jealous you went on a date with Alex.
Unsurprisingly, you slept poorly and woke up groggy and unfocused Sunday morning. It was going to be a long day in the greenhouse if you didn’t find some coffee to power you up. Getting ready earlier than normal, you planned to stop at Maria and Tommy’s to see if they had coffee – there was no way you were going back to Joel’s after yesterday.
Opening the door to another brisk, early spring morning, the glint of sunlight on the porch drew your eyes to yet another flower waiting for you. Four in a row now, how long would this carry on for?
One of your favorites, you picked up the stalk with six lavender blossoms, violet in hue, and breathed in the fresh, light scent, savoring the sweet undertones. Fingers caressed the downy leaves, making you feel calmer, mellower, which was exactly what you needed.
You kept sniffing the floral scent as you read the accompanying note, finding it fitting.
Lost in your scent, the answer is present.
“Tell me you have a secret admirer!”
Startled, you gasped, gaze shooting to Maria as she approached your house, two mugs of coffee in hand. You face shifted into a smile at the sight.
“I’m… um, I guess. I’m not sure?” You shrugged accepting the mug Maria held out toward you. “Thanks for this, I ran out.”
“I heard,” she replied. “Joel’s on the hunt for more, don’t worry.”
“Of course he is,” you rolled your eyes.
“Soooo…” Maria gestured to the flowers and note in your hand, seeking an explanation. “I feel like there’s a story here.”
“There is, I just don’t know what it is yet,” you admitted. Inhaling the calming scent of the lavender once again, you added, “This is the fourth one I’ve received. Each one has its own riddle. Let me show you.”
Leading the way into your house – you still had an hour before your shift started – you showed Maria the flowers and each note that accompanied them. In small print, you added what each flower symbolized to the corresponding note and numbered them in the order you received them, hoping every little detail would help you sort out the puzzle.
Maria looked over everything, smiling softly at each note. “Whoever this mystery man is, he’s quite romantic.”
“Right?”
“What do today’s flowers mean?”
“In the context of the rest of the flowers so far, love and devotion,” you replied, heat warming your cheeks.
Maria whistled softly. “Someone is down bad for you, girl. Any ideas who it could be?”
Shrugging defeatedly, you admitted, “Not a clue. The one person I’d want it to be would never do something like this.”
Maria hid a smile behind her mug as she sipped her coffee. “How can you be sure?”

Oh what about Andy barber from defending jacob....so here is my request about Andy lost everything, he divorce his wife and the death of son, Jacob. Every once a week, he goes to see his hard working therapist, reader. He has a slight crush on her and one day off, Andy saw her in the bar. Smut in the bar bathroom
sorry, this took so long, and hopefully, it's okay, my smut might not be as good as I feel drained from it, haha.
summary - andy's therapist helps him in another unprofessional way.
warning - smut, talks of grief, dirty talk.
18+ only please, gif credit to @katlarence & divider credit to @firefly-graphics and @newlips
“So, how are you feeling today, Andy?” Y/n asks as she opens her notebook. I clear my throat, adjusting myself from the sight of her in her skirt, her leg poking through the slit. I pull the collar of my shirt away from my neck, feeling the room become warm.
“Uh…good” She raises a brow, “there are times I go to talk to Jacob or see something he’d like and then I remember that I can no longer talk to him or see the joy on his face because he’s dead and it’s all Laurie’s fault, and I still feel so guilty. I could’ve saved him, and I should’ve seen the signs sooner.” Tears fill my eyes.
Y/n pauses before placing her notebook down and grabbing my hand, “Andy, none of this is your fault, and there was nothing you could do to prevent it. Have you been doing the exercises I recommended?” I nod.
“Yeah, they help sometimes,” I say while stroking her hand. We talk for another fifty-five minutes before my appointment is up.
“Alright, Andy, unfortunately, that’s all the time we have. When would you like to make your next appointment?” I reply, making it in two weeks. As we say our goodbyes, all I can think about is bending her over her desk and taking out all of my frustrations.
I walk into my regular bar, desperate for a drink after my day. I order myself a whiskey, nodding to the bartender as he places my drink down. I go to take a sip before I hear something, a voice followed by a laugh that I recognise. I look to where it’s coming from and choke on my saliva. There she stands, wearing a gorgeous knee-length tight black with one of those stupid slits that show off her legs. I notice her breasts are pushed up, causing thoughts to enter my mind. I watch as her head tilts back when she laughs, eyes travelling down her throat, wondering what it would feel like to kiss, lick and bite it.
I’m so zoned out that I don’t notice her looking at me before excusing herself and making her way over. I’m brought out of my thoughts by a hand touching my arm, and my eyes focus on her smiling red lips. ‘Fuck, I wish they were wrapped around my cock.’
“Andy, hi.” My breath hitches in my throat.
“Hi,” I notice her trying to rub her thighs together subtly, I try to smile, but her perfume fills my senses, causing my cock to stir. She gestures to the empty seat next to me.
“Mind if I sit?” I shake my head, imagining her sitting on something else, but the stool would have to do.
“Go ahead,” my breath hitches ago, goosebumps covering my skin as her leg brushes against his.
“I’m sorry if I’m ruining your evening” I place a hand on hers.
“Your not.”
Our lips are locked as I push her against the bathroom door, muttering against them to jump. Her legs wrap around my waist, her core rubbing against my jean-clad bulge, and a soft moan leaves her lips from the friction. My tongue swipes her bottom lip before entering her mouth. The taste of strawberries and vodka fills my taste buds.
I walk over to the sink and place her on top before I reach down and under her dress. Ready to rip off her underwear, but I pull back, eyes wide as I look at her. An eyebrow raised, I watched Y/n blush and look down before placing my finger under her chin and making her look up at me, “wanna tell me why you're not wearing anything under this dress.” Y/n bites her lip, looking deep into my eyes.
“Um…It created lines….” She nibbles on her bottom lip, my eyes darting down and back up. Hand still under her dress, my fingers stroke her lips before finding her clit and rubbing. Staring into her eyes as I do, eyes dark with lust, hers roll back into her head when I thrust two in and rub her clit with my thumb. With my other hand, I unzip my jeans and take my thick cock out, my bulbous head leaking and throbbing.
Lifting Y/n’s dress to her hips, my cock hardens even more at the sight of her glistening pussy. She whines, placing her hands on my hips and trying to pull me closer. My cock lays heavy against her entrance before slowly pushing in, my head falls forward, and a loud groan leaves my mouth as whimpers leave hers.
My hips pull back before snapping roughly back in, my cock squeezed by her tight walls, thrusting into her hard and fast. My hands bruise her hips as I relentlessly fuck into her, my cock pounding into her tiny hole. Groans and moans fill the bathroom, skin slapping, and I embrace Y/n holding her close as my cock slides in and out. I place kisses along her collarbone and neck, leaving marks.
“Oh– oh, Andy, we shouldn’t be – fuck – doing this.” Y/n’s eyes roll to the back of her head as my cock hits her sweet spot, and her nails dig into my back, holding on for dear life. I pick up the pace, relentlessly tearing her cunt open. I pull back and stare at her face. One hand comes up and grips her chin, making her look at me. Her dazed eyes connected with my dark blue ones. Causing my cock to throb inside of her.
Sending a particularly hard thrust, “Of course, we should be doing this. You're helping me.” My hand wraps around her throat as I fuck hard into her, feeling my end approaching quickly. “Fuck– this is embarrassing, but I’m so close, and you feel so fucking good.” I feel Y/n clench around me, and my hands grip her hips tight as I continue to send relentless thrusts into her tiny hole.
“Andy– Andy, fuck. Please.” Y/n’s eyes roll to the back of her head as her cunt pulsates around him and her cream coats his massive, throbbing cock. Her body slips as her client pounds into her tight cunt.
Andy can feel his balls tightening, burying his cock deep inside Y/n before he releases and fills her to the brim with his load. A sigh of relief leaves the two of them as the feeling of a weight being lifted off of their shoulders leave. Andy slowly pulls out, reaching over and grabbing a paper towel before wetting it and cleaning both of them up. “Thank you,” his puppy dog blues look connected with Y/n’s eyes as he helps her re-dress herself before doing the same with himself.
Y/n smiles, her hand coming up and strokes his cheek. A squeal of shock leaves her lips as Andy leans forward and captures hers with his, bringing her into a passionate kiss.
thank you for reading!
feedback and reblogs are greatly appreciated.

"you really know how to make me cry
when you gimme those ocean eyes"
- ocean eyes by billie eilish.
The night was cold, the wind blowing through the open windows of the house. Ghosts of last year remained inside the walls as Steve feared. With a grunt, he rubbed his face. Even with all the breeze, he was sweating. Damned nightmares.
His hand involuntarily reached to the other side of the sheets, searching for that familiar warmth. Her side of the bed was cold, she must have been up for long enough. He sat up and threw the black duvet off his body. No matter how many times they tried to sleep with windows closed, neither of them could blink. Past haunted present.
Balcony door was ajar, choked sobs being heard from there. He sighed as he stood up and took her cardigan off the nightstand. His steps were heavy, unsure of how to trespass walls she created around them. It's been a long time since they had a proper conversation.
Taking a deep, cold breath into his lungs, he pushed the ajar door, meeting a similar image. Her knees were pulled against her chest on the couch, her cheek pressing against them. An empty bottle of whiskey stood unashamed next to her. He scrunched his nose. Smell of whiskey wasn't the best, especially when it came to his wife.
Tears kept rolling down her cheeks, moonlight illuminating her tired face. Dried tears have been replaced with new, wet ones. She was so drawn to her world of ruins that Steve's footsteps didn't even alert her senses. He cleaned his throat to make his presence known, earning a slow headlift from her. Her swollen eyes were all red from crying.
"What did we talk about drinking at late hours?" He couldn't help but be wary of her behavior. Avengers were his world, but when his world fell into void, all left was ruins. Ruins of his life and marriage. Once an inseparable couple, now barely spoke to each other besides arguing.
"Go to sleep, Steve. It's a late hour to argue." After hours of silence, her voice came out hoarse. A few coughs helped her to clean her throat. "I don't need your pity." She said with the pain-filled undertone in her voice, something only Steve would hear.
"You don't need my pity, Y/n. You need me." His words only fueled the anger that crept her features. "Oh, really Captain? Where were you when I fell into hell in that hospital? Let me tell you, you were in another country, trying your best to avoid me. Maybe you even wished for me to perish." Her drunk words stung like venomous needles, making Steve fix his stance.
"I didn't escape from you. We were on a mission and-"
"AND WHAT? ARE THE FUCKING MISSIONS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR WIFE?" Her sudden outburst caused Steve to frown. "It's nothing like that, you're being dramatic right now." A sarcastic laugh escaped her throat. "Dramatic? I lost my baby, Steve. I didn't even get to hold my child before I lost her. And to remind you, she was your daughter too."
Moments of silence went on and went on. Neither of them spoke, no one taking a step to lower the barriers between them. When she buried her head to her knees, Steve remembered the soft cardigan he was holding from the very beginning of their argument. He bit his lips, not wanting to say one more word to her. Throwing the soft fabric on the table next to her, he slammed the door behind him and went to bed.
Now his side of the bed was cold too.
She was running, running, and running again. Brown-haired boy smiled at her from a distance, waving his hand cluelessly. He wasn't aware of the danger waiting for him. "Peter! Peter!" Her own screams were ripping her skin. Boy didn't react to her agony or cries.
When she finally reached her destination, her body fell to the floor. Before she could reach him, smile on his face dusted away. Gray dusts flowed through her fingers.
"Y/n, wake up!" The sudden shock of being shaken made her open her eyes. Steve's worried face was in front of him. Everything was a nightmare again. Universe kept rubbing the fact she couldn't protect the kid to her face. She let him kiss her forehead and press her against his warm chest. Throughout everything that happened, every fight occurred between them, he was still her safe space, the only place she could walk into with her eyes closed. "It's okay, I am here... I am here..." The whispers against her hair began to show their effects, smoothing the fast beating of her heart.
She clumsily threw her robe over her back and wore her slippers, making her way to the bathroom. A bath was what she needed most at this time. Looking into those blue eyes she once loved so much was now nothing short of torture. Of course, Steve didn't blame her for The Snap. However, a part of her dusted away with all of the people disappeared. Whenever she looked into his eyes, failure looked back at her.
She slowly took off her robe and pajama. The process made her hiss in actual pain, fabric rutting against wounds left from her last panic attack. She didn't know why or how, her hands always found their way to her belly when she had one of her attacks, itching to feel her baby again. The baby she never achieved to embrace.
Her fingers traced shapes on the scars, scratches and stitch marks all over her stomach. Running faucet filled the bathtub with hot water. She didn't mind the burns on her skin, stepping into the vapors. Her skin writhed, as she sank into the water, scratches burned and itched. She laid her head back on cold tiles. Punishment was a given for failed ones, she deserved this.
“Y/n, I am- oh god!” Steve's panicked voice tore her thoughts away. His rushed steps were what she focused on. Strong arms pulled her out of the water. After coming out of hot water, her body shivered with cold air caressing her. “What the hell were you doing!?” Steve exclaimed as he turned the cold water on, easing the hot sensation.
Scratches on her body gained his attention. “Y/n. What are these?” Ah, one more failure. Steve finally discovered the scratches. “Nothing.” Her tone stood neutral, not giving away anything.
“Look at my eyes. Are you harming yourself?” She shook her head to say no. But Steve wasn't stupid and he knew his wife well enough to understand when she lied to him. “Love… You should've told me.” After months of separation, and emotional distance, the goddamn wall finally cracked. Maybe that was what was needed in their relationship. Fear of losing.
Her arms wrapped around his shoulders as she buried her face in the crook of his neck. The world was finally spinning on her way. Steve cupped her cheeks gently. “Look at me, darling. No matter what happens between us, you're still my wife. I am still your husband. Come to me, because in this world, only we can mend each other.” Her lips trembled as tears began to fill her eyes.
“I am sorry, Steve. For not listening to you, for bursting out of nowhere. You are right. We have only each other left.” He nodded as his thumb brushed her cheek, wiping the tears away. He hooked his arms under her waist and knees, picking her up.
After laying her down, he opened their emergency drawer and took out the burn cream. With slow motions, he circled the cream on the red pitches of her skin. “I know you don't think I cared about our daughter, but I did. As much as you did. Sleepless nights held me captive after losing her. I couldn't come to the hospital because I had no way back.” He kissed her knees, fingers massaging her thighs as if he tended to heal her. “I am so sorry, my love. I shouldn't have left you in the dark alone. I should've stood next to you.”
She looked at his eyes. The very ocean blues she loved. She still loved them. They were not at a point of no return. Her smile was real this time, not an effort to push him away. “We can fix everything and start all over again, right?” He closed her eyes and kissed her softly, it made her feel loved. “Yes, yes we can.”

Shopping. (No CW) Phantom/Aether/Dewdrop
CW - None
Characters: Phantom, Aether, misc Ghouls.
(It's about to be August so that means the Hot Topic is putting out Halloween items. Take Phantom there STAT!!!! Also yes I'm aware Sweden doesn't have a HT, but luckily this is fanfic where anything can be real of I try hard enough.)
(Divider by @ wrathofrats )
"If you could have anything, what would you have?"
It was a simple question, Phantom's face scrunching as he thought, scratching his cheek before looking up at Aether with a giant smile. "I want a new nosferatu shirt! My old one got ripped, remember?"
Aether shrugged in agreement, offering his hand which Phantom took. Papa had recently been given permission by the higher-ups to take his ghouls out for 'enrichment time' he called it, noticing their ever-so-slowly growing anxiety as tour got closer. It was another change to being back around venues when they just got comfortable being home again. So, here Aether, Phantom, and Dewdrop walked around the mall together while the rest of their mates had scattered around to other areas.
Phantom's eyes stayed lit up the entire time, looking around each window view in each store with such genuine curiosity. He's been around stores and humans plenty of times, but it always amazed him at just the amount of new things that seemed to be around every corner.
Dewdrop stood on the other side of Aether, holding his other hand and humming to himself as they walked to a specific store. Phantom's eyes caught it first, gasping and suddenly ripping away from Aether. His hands went to the the glass, smile so wide that the other two were positive if Phantom had his tail still—it'd be wagging like no tomorrow.
"Aether! Dew!! Look, look, look!" He began to jump up and down, tapping the viewing glass. "They have a Michael Myers hoodie!!"
The elder quintessence only nodded, gently shushing Phantom as his tone was a bit too loud. "Yeah! Want to go in?"
"Please, please?"
The sheer joy that overtook Phantom as Dewdrop nodded, his own smile showing. "Go ahead, bug. We'll be right behind."
He gave another squeal before running in, Aether and Dewdrop exhaling before looking at one another. Dewdrop pulled his wallet out first, taking his wad of saved krona out, quietly counting to himself before sighing one more time.
"I have six-thousand... You?"
Aether was quick to follow, mumbling to himself as he counted. "Ten-thousand."
"Ohh, Mr. Moneybags over here." Dew teased, lightly elbowing his mate.
"Yeah, yeah." The quint rolled his eyes. "Since I'm not traveling I don't spend much anymore plus the pay raise for full-time infirmary."
"You know they're going to give us the biggest puppy eyes, right?"
"Oh, I'm very aware." Aether chuckled, leaning down to gently cup Dewdrop's cheek to pull in close for a kiss.
They stayed interlocked, Aether dragging his hands down Dew's blonde hair. When they pulled back Aether felt the fire ghoul nip his jaw, patting his shoulder as he finally began to walk in.
"Just make sure you have enough! You still owe me a dinner date." Dew teased.
Inside the store, their eyes locked onto Phantom as he held a giant wad of clothes but now looking at jewelry. As he smelled his mates, he quickly turned and smiled wide, back to bouncing again.
"They have Scream necklaces!!" They chirped.
"Yes, the movie, not you." Dew poked his nose, taking the wad of clothes from Phantom's hold. It was a giant array of hoodies, long sleeves, shirts, and even pajama pants. "Dear Lucifer, Tommy. What happened to all your other clothes?"
The ghoul simply blinked, his ear giving a small wiggle. "You happened to them."
Aether couldn't help himself as he busted out laughing, cupping his chest as his nose crinkled—Dew's face slowly turning pink before grumbling, knowing Phantom had a point. The bigger of the three coughed before catching his breath, wiping a tear from his cheek.
"Oh that's bloody perfect." He chuckled again.
They began to browse together, Phantom getting distracted as he noticed more crystal jewelry only to walk away as Aether explained they weren't real. While Dew had separated momentarily to look for his own band t-shirt, Phantom continued eyeing the stockings near the clothing rack. He picked out one that had a floral print on white, his ear gave another wiggle before ultimately placing it back. They turned to see Aether touching over a velvet dress, specifically in a small, eyeing the price tag and picking it up. He looked over at Dew, back to the dress, then the little bat next to him.
"Hey, Phantom?" He asked, showing the dress. "Think you could find some cute garters to match this?"
Taking the challenge, Phantom kept his eyes peeled onto the body decor, shuffling through different designs and colors before pulling out black laces. "What about these?"
"Ohh! Those are perfect!" Aether pressed a kiss to Phantom's forehead. "Thank you! Think you're about ready?"
With a nod, the two moved over to Dewdrop who met them halfway, standing in line. As they approached the checkout, Phantom pulled out his coin purse that he had crudely shoved his money in, laying down a hundred and seven krona. He still hadn't fully grasped the concept of money, quickly being saved by his two mates that equally contributed. Two-thousand later, they walked out holding multiple bags just in time to see Sunshine and Mountain walking up, giving their own waves.
"Hey!" Aether gave a smile. "What did you two get?"
Mountain shrugged, showing his single bag. "Just got a new pair of pants."
Eyes turned to Sunny. "I didn't want anything, really! Just glad to get out of the abbey. Oh! But I seen Swiss and Rain by the—" She didn't see Aether and Dew discreetly shaking their heads frantically. "—Crystal store."
Dew rolled his head back while Aether sighed, Phantom lighting up again. "There's a crystal store?!"
"Damnit..." Aether whined, before glaring at Sunshine playfully. "I'm sure Sunny would love to take you! Isn't that right?"
It took the Ghoulette a moment to process before cursing under her breath, before offering her hand to Phantom who quickly grabbed it. "Not at all."
Dew held a smug look while quietly flipping her off, receiving one back as she placed her other hand behind her back.

Seeing the monster fucking again make laugh thinking of :
Cassandra escaping, but she is utterly ruined plus Bonded so she comes back, the sea best being mad fuck her harder than ever.
Alcina divided between anger of some lowly beast impregnating/mating her daughter and joy because technically she is a grandma, I mean she adopted three swarm of cannibal flies what is a dozen a sea beast mutants?.
(Moreau will be thrilled)
Daniela and Bela not knowing if they are angry, jealous or concerned. Either the sea beast get more lovers or they get trapped by another beast, Daniela technically already have a werewolf lover. What Bela will have🤔? (minotaur, druid, shadow beast, centaur, lamia, orc, were shifter, varcolac, there is a world of options! )
Again alcina being utterly enraged and overjoyed by this. Why her daughters choose savage beasts as lovers! And why her grandchildren are so cute!
Alcina to lovers: I gonna tear you to pieces!
Alcina to the babies: here sweetheart go buy you something, Oh dear! You draw me? Let me hang out in my office. Oh! This a magnificent boar head I really appreciate it, take the rest to the kitchen draga will make stew tonight.
So, yeah it make laugh.
Tired of bottoms anon, TOBA.
Lmao imma have to split this in 2 posts XD
That part 5 of Cass’s series; Cassandra escaping and retuning for some rough fucking-> linked HERE once it’s up (rip hoping I won’t forget-)
And this answering all this XD
Masterlists
1) answered and linked above once it’s out ;) but tbh? Absolutely lmao!
2) Alcina first off being absolutely FLABBERGASTED her daughter reeks of all kinds of things lmao- seeds, the lake, water, tentacles, god knows what else. Immediately putting her in a bath and demanding to know what happened.
Full on scolding Cassandra for losing her necklace and being lost for words when she is told what happened.
Her precious middle child? Claimed by a vile monster? At the bottom of the filthy lake no less? RIP Alcina Dimitrescu
But a bunch of baby monsters? Oh, they’re so tiny, she loves them!
3) damn fish boy XD
4) Oh Bela is definitely more on the concerning/scolding side. Her sister not ONLY went in the forest alone, but also got captured for who knows how long, with them having no idea where she is, only to return claimed, bred and having hatched young monsters? Oh she is IN for it! Bela is never letting her hear the end of it
Dani? Both, honestly. She’ll playfully kick Cassandra for being gone without a note or anything. She could’ve been dead for all they know. All the while she really can’t stop thinking about tentacle sex after hearing her sister got claimed by a tentacle monster at the bottom of the lake. Will she venture there too? Quite possibly
As for Bela; I think it’s high time we find her a suitable monster all to herself to get a nice railing from lmao. Digging back up this meme for this:
5) Now, in their defence, Alcina only ever said “No man or woman is good enough for my precious daughters!”. She never said a thing about vile monsters and creatures ;)
6) Omg absolutely. Though she’ll have to swim to reach Cassandra’s “lover” XD think Alcina would absolutely love the little wolf babies Daniela could bring home though.
Lycans? Disgusting. Mutts. Lowlifes in her eyes
But her youngest’s little fur babies? Oh, what precious little things! Lmao

Mushy May Day 6 & 7 - You're Blushing & Gift Giving (Aether/Dew)
Did a little bit of prompt combining and swapping this time around! Thank you again @forlorn-crows for organizing this. Normally writing challenges are really hard for me, but I'm having SO much fun with this one. And thank you @ghuleh-recs for the adorable dividers!
Day 6 & 7 - You're Blushing & Gift giving, Aether/Dew, no warnings, 1426 words
PS - See the end of the work for notes/photos of what Aether and Dew got for each other!
It’s their summoning day - eight whole years since the day Aether and Dew were summoned together straight from the Pit to serve the ministry. As with all summoning days, the pack throws a huge party, inviting all the ghouls and siblings in the abbey to celebrate. Papa even makes an appearance to toast his two longest-serving band ghouls.
It’s a huge party, full of food lovingly prepared by Mountain and tasty cocktails served up by Sunny and Aurora. Swiss has appointed himself DJ for the night, knowing just what to play to keep everyone in the mood to party. There’s even a cake, and later, the pack goes around the room one by one, each giving Aether and Dew a thoughtful little gift.
Finally, the night grows late and the celebrations begin to wind down, and Aether and Dew excuse themselves after exchanging a final round of bear hugs and big, wet kisses (Phantom is definitely not drunk, thank you) with the other members of the pack before heading back to their shared room.
They always wait to exchange their gifts for each other in private, a tradition they started just one year after their joint summoning. The same year they promised themselves to each other as mates.
As soon as their door is closed, however, Dew’s mood shifts. He seems anxious, eyes immediately darting over to the brown paper gift bag he’d set on the nightstand with Aether’s name written carefully across the tag.
“Can you go first?” Dew asks, uncharacteristically reserved.
Aether smiles, unsure as to why the normally confident little fire ghoul might be so nervous, and passes his gift over. It’s wrapped simply in white paper with a red bow on top and the tag says “Dew,” with a little heart drawn next to it. Dew takes it and carefully tears into one of the corners of the paper with a claw.
“You didn’t!” Dew exclaims, immediately recognizing the mystery object. He rips through the rest of the wrapping with abandon and pulls out a hefty box set of DVDs in smart, red packaging.
“I did!” Aether beams, proud of himself and delighting in the way Dew is already ripping off the cellophane and flipping through the sizable book of disks with a massive grin on his pretty face. “Couldn’t have us running out of movies to watch on kung-fu night, now could we?”
“Yes!! You’re the best, Aeth!” Dew exclaims with delight, throwing his arms around the quintessence ghoul and showering his face in kisses. “Gotta pace ourselves this time though. We watched them all way too fast last time.” He looks back at Aether with wide, expectant eyes.
Aether nods in agreement and presses a kiss to Dew’s forehead. Happy that his nerves seemed to have calmed for the time being and ecstatic that Dew loves his gift so much.
Dew flips through the disks for another few moments, rattling off all the titles he’s most excited to see. Finally, he sets his gift down and reaches for the bag he has waiting on the nightstand.
“Ok, my turn,” he says, and all but shoves the gift straight into Aether’s chest.
Aether takes the bag and contemplates the little ghoul for a moment.
“You’re blushing,” he informs him, matter-of-factly.
Dew’s head whips up.
“Um, I am definitely not blushing,” he answers with an indignant little pout.
“No, no. You are definitely blushing,” Aether assures him. “Should I be worried about what’s in this thing?” he teases, holding the bag up next to his ear and shaking it gently.
“Oh my god just open it already before I change my mind and throw it out the damn window,” Dew barks, blushing harder.
Aether leans over to kiss the other ghoul on the lips apologetically before turning his attention back to the gift bag in his lap. He carefully takes out the tissue paper and reaches in, pulling out what looks to be a large, leather-bound book.
Dew holds his breath.
Aether sets the gift wrap aside to inspect the book, turning it over in his hands. It’s heavy, hand-bound in a supple black leather with a beautifully embossed crescent moon in the center of the cover. Below the moon are two alchemical symbols, also embossed, one for fire and one for quintessence, and around the edges and corners is an elaborate, twisting geometric design. Aether turns the book over in his hands. Along the spine are four brass rivets and in the center, a beautiful piece of brass antique hardware with scalloped edges and a natural patina.
Aether flips the book’s cover open. There he finds beautifully hand-marbled paper with a bright purple scalloped pattern. There’s a hand-stamped bookplate affixed to the inner cover too, a black and white image of a crescent moon surrounded by a sky of stars, reading ex libris in Latin across the top. On the bottom someone has written “A+D” with a calligraphy pen. And finally, hanging inside and bound into the spine is a thin, black leather bookmark with a tiny brass star charm matching the look of the hardware on the spine.
It’s absolutely beautiful and like nothing Aether has ever seen before. But despite the antique look of the book, it smells brand new.
“Dew, did you make this?” Aether looks up at the fire ghoul in awe, mouth agape as he realizes.
Dew’s still blushing, and he reaches to rub the back of his neck awkwardly.
“Yeah… Mountain helped me with it. Showed me how to emboss the leather and bind all the pages together and everything.” He looks up at Aether. “I messed up a bunch though, so it’s not perfect or anything,” he explains, still rubbing the back of his neck. “I wanted to make a more elaborate bookplate too, but I ran out of time because I kept fucking up the paper marbling…” he trails off.
“There’s uh.. There’s more too.” He starts again. “If you open it.”
Aether carefully opens the book again, this time to the first proper page, where he’s greeted by a collage of photos, little pieces of paper, and other flat objects, lovingly and meticulously affixed to the pages. The first photo is of Aether and Dew, way back on their very first day in the band together. The very first day they met. They stand side by side, not close enough to touch, silver masks pulled over their faces and obscuring their expressions. Dew stands rigid straight with his chest puffed out and his bass strapped across his front. Aether looms tall next to him, shiny new black Fantomen guitar in his hands.
Aether flips through the book and sees their entire history laid out in front of him. Photos of Dew slouched over, fast asleep in his seat on the tour bus. Aether caught with a mouth full of ramen noodles at a restaurant in Tokyo. There are more than just photos too. A pair of their first guitar picks, lovingly used and placed beside each other. A pressed flower, the first flower Aether playfully passed over to Dew after catching it from an audience member. There are little scraps of paper torn from hotel room notepads with silly drawings on them. Pamphlets from tourist traps that Dew insisted they stop at while on the road. Aether can’t find the words, so Dew breaks the silence. “I only filled it halfway… since I figured we’ve got so much more to add in the future.”
Aether makes a choked sound, and Dew looks up at him for the first time since he opened the gift.
“You’re crying.” Dew informs him, a smug little grin creeping across his face.
Aether sniffles. “No I am not…”
“Ok, fine. Maybe I am a little bit,” he immediately concedes, wiping away the tears that start to stream down his cheeks.
Aether sets his precious gift down on the bed and pulls Dew in for a hug, wraps his arms tight around the little ghoul and presses kisses and happy tears into the top of his head.
“Thank you, Dew,” he says after a while of holding his favorite ghoul in the world tight in his arms. “I love it so much, I don’t even know what to say.”
Dew reaches up and pulls Aether down for a kiss. He doesn’t even know why he was nervous at all in the first place.
Dew's gift. What I based Aether's book on, what the marbled paper looks like, and examples of what a bookplate looks like!

Chapter Six
Sliding in the last tray of vegan cookies and treats, Vinny dusted off her hands, wearing a dress of white lace and an apron that was covered in flour. She had her hair tied up and her green eyes sparkled as she flicked the open sign on, and unlocked the door with a smile. She had cleaned up the glasses from the night before already, and sighed softly, having a little package of coffee and treats ready for when Ricky’s partner of the night came down from the apartment.
She knew the relationship she had with Ricky was unconventional at best. But it was what worked best for both of them. They were in sync with each other’s needs, and he understood her in a way most didn’t.
She was broken out of her thoughts as the door opened, and she grinned looking up towards the door, “Welcome!”
Christopher had slipped out of the Church the back way, he usually always flew out of the balcony. Unfortunately, if he’d have tried that now he would have likely ruined the clothes he’d been wearing, and his wings tearing up the back of his garments would have been a bit noticeable. He doubted they’d transform with him, such as the ones he’d worn for thousands of years did. So the back way worked. He made his way around the building, it was not a simple small building, the Church, oh, it had been glorious once, and it still was, it pained Christopher to see it so different, so… changed. It had ripped him apart each day the mortals had come in, changing one more thing after another.
Then Ricky and Vinny had arrived, and something had shifted in him.
It wasn’t that the pain was gone, far from it, but it was something else when he saw her. Approaching the front doors, oh, how they turned the magnificent Church into a splendid café, and Vinny, he breathed in the scents of the delightful baked goods that he knew first hand were delicious. The times she had baked for him, it was still a wonder how she knew what he chose to eat, and he was thankful for it.
To be greeted by that beautiful smiling face was such a blessing as he approached. He knew he was probably a sight, his angel marking tattoos that were exposed, however, would no doubt appear different to her than his unit brethren. Enochian didn’t just sound different to mortals, but the writing was as well, she’d see mortal styled tattoos of different varieties instead, over most of his exposed skin that was marked by the angel's runes. Covering most of his body, aside from his face.
Smiling to her as he approached, “Fair Morning, I hope you are well?”
She beamed, “I am!” Her cheeks were a light pink, with nothing but joy in her eyes. “I had a great start to my morning. What would you like? I just made some vegan apple banana oatmeal cookies if you want some. Fresh out of the oven.” She commented, offering one to him. This was how she flirted—feeding people. And he was gorgeous, and she didn't want to charge him a single thing.
The way her cheeks flushed, it was almost like he could feel the warmth emanating from her very skin. It took everything in him not to reach out and brush his fingertip across her cheek then and there, but, he was a stranger to her, it would be weird at best, creepy even. “Vegan apple banana oatmeal cookies, that actually sounds delightful. Are you vegan?” It was something he was curious about, how she had gotten into baking vegan cuisine.
Accepting the cookie she offered now, at first more focused on the question, not even thinking the cookie would be any different from the cookies she left him when the café closed before sunset. Those were always delightful. However, when he took that first bite, and the warm baked cookie hit his tongue, his honey-brown eyes went wide, and he groaned softly. “Oh, this is wonderful.”
She giggled, “No, I’m not, but I like to play with vegan food. I eat a lot of vegetarian cuisines and I love spending time baking and not a lot of vegan recipes tend to have a lot of flavor- not to mention places that carry vegan food aren’t too common.” she explained, pulling out a box to put a collection of cookies into so he could sample all the freshest ones. “Would you like some coffee with it? I have a caramel apple latte I’ve been perfecting.”
Her entire body seemed to vibrate with the compliment from him, her heart soaring as her chest puffed out a bit.
Christopher was absolutely mesmerized watching her, not only for the food she was packing into a sample box, but also the lacy dress down her body that just gave an air about her that had him enraptured. He’d never seen Chenza wear the like befo- swallowing, he took in a breath, she wasn’t Chenza, she wasn’t… a pit in his gut was so guilty. Though, he paused for a moment as their eyes met, his golden honey brown to her forest green, he couldn’t help but smile slightly, the sadness in his heart easing as he did. “I would love to try it, thank you.”
Oh, he would try anything she offered him, if he was honest with himself. “With oat milk, if I could, please? I, I am, actually vegan.” It felt so weird, asking, but he didn’t want to assume she would just accept that was how he liked it because he had asked her before, and he wanted a reason to keep talking to her. He wanted a reason, any reason, to stay here, just as long as he could.
She beamed, “I can do that. Would you like coconut whipped cream? It’s vegan, and it lets you enjoy whipped cream too!” she gushed, offering a fresh tart to him as well as she moved to prep the coffee with bright eyes, “Do you want any espresso in it? I can add it-” she babbled, her black heels clicking softly on the floor as she moved, her dress twirling around her as she darted around, her curls bouncing against her shoulders.
She knew what she was doing and everything was perfect and precise as she worked.
Oh, he’d enjoyed that whipped cream before. After that first day, and the next time, she’d brought him another drink with whipped cream, and he’d gotten to it before it melted. He’d at first been disappointed thinking he’d have to hand it over to Justin, cream and all, but the smell, and the taste, oh, it had been delicious. As she was babbling a bit though, he took a massive risk, and reached across the counter, and his hand reaching to settle over hers to still her as she prepped the coffee machine. He didn’t know a single element of how the contraption worked, however, easing her for a moment couldn’t be bad as it appeared not to be running quite yet. She could breathe, just for a moment. That was what he’d always told his unit as he trained them, take a breath before acting, and then go, it will soothe you and make it easier.
Smiling to her softly, “Surprise me.” As he let her hand go, and she continued to work, he just continued to watch her move around, fascinated.
When he touched her she looked up at him cheeks burning bright, the faintest of freckles on her cheeks mixed in with the red of her blush. She held her breath for a moment, knowing he could likely see the affection she already had for him. “I… Yeah, I… I can…do that.” She whispered, moving to pull out the homemade caramel she had mixed into the coffee. She made the espresso, balancing all she did before finally placing the drink before him with a hefty amount of whipped cream, caramel and sweet coffee.
“My name is Vinny, by the way. I never got yours,” she commented, tucking a curl behind her ear.
Christopher lifted the drink to his lips eagerly, not able to resist tempting himself. Vinny was his temptation, she was, he would admit to it, his eyes fluttering as the scalding liquid hit his tongue, oh, he loved it. As his eyes opened to hers, they were warm, and bright, a wide smile to her.. As he lowered his drink a little, “It’s ever such a pleasure to meet you, Vinny, truly.” Officially that his, his name, his name.
He knew he shouldn’t give it, he knew he needed to stay away from her. Involving himself anywhere near mortals was a slippery slope, but they both lived here, and if they were to co-exist, could they at least know of each other? Besides, Vinny had been more than gracious to him, and he, he couldn’t seem to drag himself away. “Well, it's a mouthful I am told, but it was impressed upon me young, that my name was bestowed upon me as an honor, so I should treat it as such. Christopher Abraham Barak Cerulli.”
Vinny smiled, “Christopher Abraham Barak Cerulli… I like it. It sounds really dignified. But… if it's not weird… can I call you Chris?” she asked, tilting her head with wide eyes, lips curled up softly as she covered the cookies and offered the box to him. “If not, I understand, I can call you Christopher.” she assured.
Behind her was a platform. The nameplate polished and a large bouquet of red roses and lilies were in a beautiful vase. Authenticity.
Dignified was one way to put it, pretentious was another, that was how he’d always thought of it, how his name was a whole mouthful. Whenever Jerahmiel had addressed him directly, he had insisted on using his full name, inflection and all. It had always honestly been exhausting, really. Christopher was so much easier. When Vinny asked if she could call him Chris though, he paused, no one had called him Chris, well, not since, and it had only ever had been…
Swallowing, “Of course, for you, Chris would be, perfect.” He shouldn’t, he knew he shouldn’t. It was a slippery slope, and he was already struggling to separate the two, he was struggling not to blur the- Christopher had smiled as he accepted the box of fresh cookies and treats when he saw it.
The platform.
It was one of the gargoyle platforms from the above section of the Church. He’d noticed the Ricky had moved a few of them, and he’d scoffed at it, ridiculous, but he hadn’t realized that he’d moved this one. The placement, the large luxurious bouquet of flowers, Christopher took a shaky breath.
Authenticity.
“I- I- I apologize. I really should be going, it’s almost dawn. How much do I owe you?” He might not get paid by the angels, protecting humanity was a thankless job, but, living the life they did, they found ways to acquire money. Admittedly, not entirely ways the mortals would be all too happy about, he was sure.
“Today? For you? Just five dollars. Cookies are on me.” She murmured gently seeing his change in demeanour, concern coursing through her face head slightly tilted and lips parted, some worry lining her features.
Nodding slightly, the tilt of his head slow for a moment, finally his eyes moving to flicker back to Vinny properly, blinking as he fought the haze in them. Instead, he took in a deep breath, slipping the few notes and coins he had collected in his pockets. He didn’t know much about money, they’d acquired food and anything else they needed by other means, besides, they didn’t have many wants really. He did however know five dollars, but handed over a ten, “Keep the rest. Thank you.” If his voice was rough, he didn’t much want to acknowledge it as he nodded to her and took a step back, picking up his box of treats and coffee.
“Ah… thanks. I hope you have a good day…” she called gently, offering a sympathetic smile to him with nothing but warm kindness for him.
She watched him leave and looked away, turning her attention to the door that was creaking open from the apartment. The man stumbled down, looking dazed, as Vinny offered the bag and coffee with a knowing smile. “I hope you had a good night. This is on the house.”
Christopher went back out the front of the Church, walking the long way around the building, each step feeling heavier than the last. He was trying not let his mind weigh on what he’d seen inside, but there was no way he couldn’t. Slipping back inside the building through the back way, so that Vinny wouldn’t see him, and climbed up the lesser known stairs, the Church always had the main area and the one for the living quarters. Now, there was the set that led directly to the Rectory and were almost never used, not even really by the Gargoyles. Why would they need to when they used the balcony more than anything before, and the stairs to the main area.
Still, by the time Christopher made it up to the rectory, he was cutting it close to sunrise, but he didn’t even care anymore.. There were tears streaming down his face. Justin and Ryan, whom were both about to accost him for going down to see Vinny, when they had wanted to go down to the bar all night, and he’d denied them, were shocked at the sight of him instead. “Shit, Christopher, what, what happened?” Had they heard her ask about shortening his name? Of course! Did they dare? Certainly not!
He shook his hand putting away his treats and leaving what was left of his coffee aside, too distraught to eat now, they’d been only a means to see her anyway. Stripping out of the foreign clothes, he changed into his familiar garb. His clothes, he knew them, he needed them. Moving to his new spot.. That part he hated, but he didn’t have his pedestal anymore, at least it certainly wasn’t positioned in the same place.. Where he could see..
A fresh flow of tears came.. “Christopher…” Justin began, but he shook his head, no, no, he couldn’t talk about it, only, just as the sun was rising…
“She’s behind the bar.”
Only for the sun to rise as they took their beast forms and forced all three of them into their stone prisons for the day. Instead of the monstrous growls, two looks of concerns, and one of utter despair over what some would consider grisly faces.

OFFSCREEN POST
———
Keldeo’s hooves thundered against the ice, causing it to crack and crumble away under the sheer force- but the young legendary was too fast to be taken down with it. August tightened their grip on their steed’s mane, flattening themself against his back to hold against the velocity of the wind threatening to send them tumbling off.
Kyurem hovered just up ahead, temporarily stunned by an earlier assault from Keldeo. In that moment, August knew- this was their chance. They wouldn’t get another shot like this. If they didn’t split the dragons right now, then the fate of Unova was decided.
Bracing themself to jump, August readied themself just as Keldeo went galloping over the edge, the bridge of ice shattering to pieces below him. No turning back.
Time seemed to slow down. In those final, pivotal seconds, August sucked in a deep breath, before giving the command in one final shout-
“SECRET SWORD!”
Rearing his head back, Keldeo let out an echoing bray as a radiant, crystallized blade sprouted from his horn. Kyurem looked up just in time to see him hovering overhead, golden eyes widening as the trainer and legendary dived in.
With a swing of his head, Keldeo sliced straight through Kyurem’s chest, leaving a cut where beams of dazzling light would pour from. As the mighty dragon let out a prolonged, agonized screech, August leaped off just as Keldeo began to fall- grabbing onto Kyurem’s chest spike and dangling from it.
Moving purely on instinct, their hand dove into their pocket, snatching a syringe-like device- the DNA Splicers. The new set that Colress had made in such notice. Whether or not they actually worked, the scientist couldn’t have said, but August didn’t have time to worry about that right now. They lifted it above the cut, and with as much force as they could muster, stabbed it straight into the god’s heart.
After that, everything fell silent. Deadly silent. For that split moment, August’s felt a jolt of panic within them when nothing happened- thinking maybe the splicers hadn’t worked, or they’d done something wrong.
Then, light swallowed them. It was blinding, and August felt everything at once- it burned like flames, crackled like lightning, stung like frost. It was all so much- they hadn’t even realized their hold on the dragon’s chest had slipped and they’d began to fall.
Kyurem’s roar shook the heavens, reaching the moon and the stars beyond as its form began to divide. It ripped as seamlessly as paper, leaving three pieces behind to plummet to the earth. Long after its bellow of defeat had dwindled into nothing, August could still feel the Original Dragon’s pain echo in their eardrums, piercing into their very soul. It’d been a cry of relief, yet one of sorrow. One of joy and gratitude, yet once of remorse and pain.
In their fall, they blinked away tears that ascended from their eyes in glistening droplets, feeling a heaviness settle inside their chest. In those last moments of consciousness, they had one last thought, a whispered question that no one would answer- “Have I done the right thing?”
•
“August?”
“August, wake up...”
“It’s over now. You did it. You won.”
“Come on kid, wake up…”
“August? Hey, c-come on, we just beat that thing, you- you can’t…”
“August!”
Brown eyes shot awake, and the young trainer jolted in the arms of someone they couldn’t see. But there was a warmth, a familiar warmth- they looked down, seeing a red jacket sleeve, then moved their eyes up to see its wearer.
Hugh sucked in a sharp inhale, his face lighting up upon seeing his best friend awake. It was a rare expression August wasn’t used to seeing on him- usually he carried this furious scowl or a brooding frown, but now, he actually smiled.
“Oh thank gods, you’re-” he stammered, letting out a shaky chuckle and moving his wrist up to wipe away some stray tears. He stopped, though, when he noticed this unreadable, entranced glaze over August’s eyes. “H-hey, you okay there?”
“You’re…” August trailed off dazedly, tilting their head to the side as they tried to find the words. “I’ve… never seen you smile like that before.”
Hugh just gave them a bewildered blink, before he just blurted out a laugh and face-palmed at their remark. “You’re a dumbass.”
The sound of his laughter making them feel a bit lighter, August smiled up weakly at him, before glancing to the side and noticing two others- a distinct duo of pink and green hair.
“N? Blake?” They mumbled, relief swelling in their chest at the sight of the two older trainers. “You guys are okay!”
“Yeah…” N sighed, shrugging a little and giving them a tired half-grin. “Sorry about the whole attacking you thing. I don’t… exactly remember what happened?”
“Yeah, me neither,” Blake mumbled sheepishly, shifting on their feet and rubbing the back of their head. “But you did good, kiddo. Sorry we only got in your way. I just remember hearing Reshiram’s voice, and… everything kinda went blank.”
“You don’t have to apologize for being mind controlled,” August huffed lightheartedly, sitting up beside Hugh and slightly leaning on him. “I’m just glad you guys are back to your old selves…”
“Trust me, we are too,” said Blake, before they stood up straight and pointed somewhere off to the side. “Oh, and look who else is!”
Eyes following their finger, August let out a joyful gasp when they were greeted by not only Keldeo and the other Swords of Justice standing before them- but the faces of Reshiram and Zekrom, as well. Finally two again- and gazing softly down at August with thanks.
With an excited whinny, Keldeo bucked before he cantered over to August, giving their face an affectionate bump with his wet nose. They giggled, reaching their hands up to scratch his neck. “Hey buddy,” they greeted him, pressing their forehead against his. “You were great out there. You sure made your mentors proud, huh?”
Cobalion crooned in agreement, strolling forwards and lowering his head down to August’s height. Surprised by the gesture from the usually standoffish Legendary, they reached a hand out hesitantly towards him, before carefully gripping on one of his horns as he helped pull them back onto their feet. They wobbled a bit upon standing up, but with a little support from Hugh they managed to steady themself.
“I am deeply sorry for ever doubting you,” Cobalion apologized sincerely, stepping back and rising to his full height once more. “It… would seem that I have some reconsidering to do in terms of my views on humanity as a whole… but what I can say for certain- Keldeo is unbelievably lucky to have a Chosen like you.”
“Thank you…” August acknowledged his praise with a respectful nod, before their eyes turned back to the dragons towering over the rest of the group.
“We must express our gratitude as well,” Zekrom stated, taking a step forwards along with her brother, remaining cautious of where they moved due to their gargantuan size.
“Had it not been for you, we would have likely razed the region we hold so dearly to the ground under Kyurem’s command…” Reshiram murmured rather sorrowfully, averting his gaze to his feet.
Casting a sympathetic gaze to the pair of divine creatures, August offered them a smile of understanding, trying to assure them it wasn’t their fault. But at the mention of Kyurem, their expression shifted into one of concern, and they took a quick glance around the area for any sign of the third dragon. “Wait a minute… where is Kyurem?”
Reshiram and Zekrom became uncomfortably silent at that question, meanwhile August’s human companions all shared a look of cluelessness, wondering the same thing as well.
“We don’t know,” Hugh admitted. “When they all separated again, there was this big explosion, and… well, it definitely wasn’t there when we found Zekrom and Reshiram unconscious.”
“Maybe it went back home?” Blake suggested with a shrug. “Either way, I don’t think it’s gonna bother us again, so that’s a good thing- right?”
“I suppose so…” N mumbled, a finger raising to his chin in thought. “But I can’t say I don’t feel uneasy leaving it to roam unchecked.”
“Yeah…” August mumbled, awkwardly rubbing their arm. “It’s just that… when I struck Kyurem with the DNA splicers, it sounded like it was in so much pain… For a second there, it almost made me wonder if I’d done the right thing by separating it.”
“Of course you did,” Blake calmly assured them, crossing their arms and gesturing towards Reshiram. “You saved our dragons- and that thing would’ve used them to flatten Unova if you hadn’t.”
“I-I know, but-…never mind.” With a sigh of defeat, August dropped the subject and waved a hand dismissively. “I dont think Kyurem should have to suffer either,” they kept the words they wanted to say confined within their thoughts. This seemed like something they could worry about later- right now, they just wanted to finally enjoy this short period of peace with their friends that they’d gone through hell to earn.
N furrowed his brows in concern, before exchanging a look with Blake. The two almost seemed to communicate something silently, but before August could ask what they were both thinking the pair of Chosens had already moved on from it.
“Welp, no point hanging around here,” Blake declared, placing their hands on their hips. “Are you kids alright? That must’ve been a nasty fight, you don’t need a hospital or anything?”
After mulling it over for a second, August simply shook their head. “No, I feel totally fine actual- Woahh-!!” They were soon to be corrected when they took a step forward, only for their ankle to give out under them and send them teetering forwards. Thankfully, Hugh caught them with lightning fast reflexes. “…Okay no, yeah, I need a doctor.”
“Alright, hang in there,” Blake just chuckled, offering them another arm to lean on as they helped lead the kid over to Reshiram. Meanwhile, N watched all of them with a fond smile, the sight of his little group back together bringing warmth to his heart after these… hectic last few weeks.
He could hardly believe it. It was finally over. Plasma had been disbanded once more, another crisis had been averted… there was still this gnawing feeling inside him, filling him with anxiety that another crazy twist would be thrown their way… but he knew that feeling would go away with time. Right now, in this moment, everything was fine. Everyone was safe. For now, he was just going to relish that.
Feeling a tug at his boot, he glanced down to see none other than a certain shiny Zorua nipping at his laces- Nyx. His face brightened at the sight of her, and he kneeled down to give the little Dark-Type some scratches behind the ear, to which she enthusiastically leaned into.
The poor thing was scruffier than she’d been last time he’d seen her, visibly shaken by that big near-calamity and patches of dirt caked in her dark fur- but other than that, it was clear August had taken good care of the little one in his absence. He’d have to make time to thank them later.
For a moment, he pulled his eyes away from the kit, and stared rather absentmindedly across the desolate fields Kyurem had left in its rampage. After all of this, there was only one last loose end remaining…
Sage Rood and the other ex-grunts had sworn to him that they’d do everything in their power to rescue any and all Pokémon that’d fallen into Team Plasma’s grasp. They’d assured them that- no matter how long it took, no matter who they had to track down or how far- they’d get Nox back for him.
He trusted their word, of course, but… there was this voice haunting him, this creeping fear that made him wonder if it was too late. It might’ve very well been his Zoroark in disguise, taking that Hydreigon’s Hyper Beam in Blake’s place…
A startled yip from Nyx was what caught him before he spiraled into grief and panic over his missing Pokémon- when he looked down, he was to be surprised as well by sight of his Zorua companion having… duplicated?
Nyx stared at her doppelganger with dumbfounded eyes, while the second Zorua simply licked at its fur casually without a care in the world. N’s mouth hung open as he tried to make sense of the sight before him- was he just seeing things, or had another shiny Zorua really just appeared out of the blue…?
Before he could question the little creature, it shot him a devious smirk and bounced back up onto its paws. His shock would only increase tenfold when the Zorua was swallowed by shadows, its form changing and growing into a larger one.
From the illusion, emerged a Zoroark. Long mane of red, with new scars burned along the right side of its face, shoulder, and arm- but despite all the changes, N would recognize those sharp eyes anywhere, even after two years apart.
He froze stiff, his voice coming out in a murmur of disbelief. “…Nox…?”
Without a word, a grin spread across the fox’s face before he quickly tackled the young man to the ground, wrapping his fuzzy arms around him in a tight hug. N was quick to return it, a shaky sob escaping him when he was overwhelmed by the feeling of his companion’s warmth he’d missed for so long.
“You’re back!” he exclaimed, sitting up and ruffling the Pokémon’s mane. Nox let out an excited bark, nuzzling against him as N waved to get Blake’s attention. “Blake, look!”
Looking up from helping lift August onto Reshiram’s back, a gasp escaped Blake upon seeing the familiar Zoroark at his side. Their eyes watering up and a smile breaking across their face, they quickly jogged over with their arms outstretched. “Nox! Oh my gods, you’re alive- oof-!”
They were abruptly cut off by Nox jumping up onto them, causing them to topple over backwards and thump across the ground. Blake just giggled and accepted it though, squishing their face against his as they squeezed their arms around his shoulders. “Haha, I missed you too!”
August watched the scene with a somber smile from the back of Reshiram as Nox continued to leap around the two older trainers, before he just resorted to grabbing each of their arms pulling them both in for a group hug. For a moment, August’s gaze trailed off to the side, and they swore they saw a trio of shadowy figures looming from atop a nearby cliff in the corner of their eye- but they were gone by the time August tried to focus on them.
As if seeming to know exactly what they were thinking, Hugh crossed his arms and followed his friends’ gaze towards the same cliff. “So, where do you think Colress and the triad went…?”
“You don’t know?” asked August, looking back down at him.
“Nope. They were all just kinda gone after you beat Kyurem.”
Had August not been too utterly tired to care, they probably would’ve been a bit more worried about the absence of the four shady individuals than they felt. But they just decided to brush it aside for now- Team Plasma was gone, if not then probably in the process of crumbling at this very moment, so it’s not like any of them had anywhere to go to cause more trouble.
“I hate to say it, but… we kinda owe him for making us those new DNA Splicers, don’t we?” Hugh suggested.
“Not when he was partially the reason Ghetsis had the means to fuse the dragons in the first place,” August scoffed. “If anything, that was him paying us back for all the trouble.”
“Touché.”

Hellish Hollows Song #3:
Paranoia
Character cover: King Virtual
Notice: Some parts of the lyrics will be rewritten by me to fit his theme better, so don't expect it to be the same. Thank you. ^^
*Virtual Boy powers on*
King Virtual: 🎵Here you are, coming from afar, through the stars wit no glimpse of devoir. Drenched in carmesi, isn't all of this bizarre?
BF: *He sings here*
King Virtual: 🎵Dragged right underneath somewhere familiar, yet able to breathe stranded away from your own world. Don't you fret, stay a bit, see what beholds.🎵
King Virtual: 🎵I grant you invitation to my castle, let all your blood flow with voltage. Take your stand and bow to me in my kingdom of carnage!🎵
King Virtual: 🎵I'll be the ruler, no need to fear it's not like you have a voice but to stay here no matter if what lives or what it does, we're both phantoms facing eye to eye.🎵
BF: *Sings here*
King Virtual: 🎵Left, right, many directions, contorting to what makes my perfection, bring the the halocaust, break from the silence, cherish the screams, kill the dreams of the dence in distress.🎵
BF: *Sings here*
King Virtual: 🎵Who's the king in the mirror? Standing right beside "Anyone there?" (GF: 🎵Anyone there?) The ambience fills the air with figmentations glaring with such a stare.🎵
BF: *Sings here*
King Virtual: 🎵There's no death here to compare🎵
King Virtual: 🎵Eerie faces in the corner or do your eyes deceive? Hallucinations are your disaster. Oh, is there any pill to relive?🎵
BF: *Sings here*
King Virtual: 🎵The alarm sounds making you bound, keep on searching deeper into the underground? What's there to be found? All your hopes, throw them in the fire it burns up anyways. Burning in terror when you're dragged to hell's highway!🎵
BF: *Sings here*
King Virtual: 🎵Fierce sirens coming from the dungeon, where's the light that guided you? After all you left her in that cage your reunion is overdue.🎵
BF: *He sings here*
King Virtual: What's the matter boy? Don't you recognize your own girlfriend?
GF: *She screams as she disappeared as death is inevitable*
*King Virtual transformed into GF*
GF (King Virtual): 🎵Left me stranded in the water!🎵
GF (King Virtual): 🎵Thought you were my avenger. Slash and gash my tainted heart, you were the villain from the very start, leave me and rust away, all I ever was, was just an ashtray.🎵
BF: *He sings as he is broken with real loss, fear and woe*
GF (King Virtual): 🎵Even in perdition🎵
BF: *Sings here in fear*
GF (King Virtual): 🎵Your damsels hatreds an everlasting LEGION!🎵
*King Virtual transformed back to himself*
King Virtual: 🎵How lovely, what an execution, hard to join the torture in the distance? Now she's one of the bodies underneath the bridge, where you left her, love's a ripped out stitch.
BF: *He sing in fear and confusion*
King Virtual: 🎵This sword I weild on your skin, I'll watch as your blood drips in, I'll slit your throat and watch you choke, as your sight gets lost in crimson smoke.🎵
BF: *Sings here*
King Virtual: 🎵Parasites are crawling around rapidly, let me tear them out. Power down, begin the autopsy, the cyanides making your heart start to draught.🎵
BF: *Sings here*
King Virtual: 🎵WATCH AS YOUR MIND STARTS DIVIDING, THE NUCLEAR WARHEAD'S READY TO MELTDOWN, DON'T KEEP THE DEVIL WAITING SHOW US YOUR PERFORMANCE YOU HERITIC!🎵
BF: *He sings*
King Virtual: 🎵CLOSE YOUR EYES AND REALIZE YOUR MINE TO AGONIZE!🎵
King Virtual: 🎵I'M IN YOUR HEAD, IT'S FILLED WITH DREAD. NOT ANOTHER THING LIES AHEAD, SUCH DISTURBIA HAS DRIVEN YOU TO HYSTERIA AND PARANOIA!🎵
BF: *Sings here*
King Virtual: 🎵Here you are coming from afar from the stars, now stained with deep red scars.🎵
BF: * Sings here*
King Virtual: 🎵Drenched in carmesi, isn't all bizarre?🎵
King Virtual: 🎵Dragged right underneath where you can longer dream or breathe what's there left, it's only me.🎵
BF: *Sings here the final time*
King Virtual: 🎵Give it up, it's too late your locked in gates.🎵
King Virtual: 🎵You and your own pathetic fears, lost in your own suffocation. I hope you enjoyed your time here in my Kingdom of Carnation!🎵

2. literally the same as dial drunk. i lvoe him
3. GRACIE ABRAMS FEATURE?????? they did AMAZINGLY. i prefer this duet version over the studio one
4. FAVORITE SONG EVER (kidding. it’s hard to choose) I LOVE FOREVER. THE WAY HE HELD THE “YOU” AT THE END RHHRHRRGGRHH
5. i actually hadn’t heard pain is cold water before this!!! i was VERY pleasantly surprised though!!!! i love this song :3
6. MAINE YOOYOYOYOHOOHHOOOOOO the “hmMmmmMmMmMmMmM” thing he did i’m giggling. “are you still taking pills in the morning?—yup.” i’d die for him i fear (just like how he’d fucking die for fenway park) THE HIGH NOTES????? i love him. the way he did the ending hrhrhrgrgg /vvvpos
7. paul revere. oh my god i love this one too. county line i’m counting down 🗣️ he’s so enthusiastic i love everything about this (other than come over and young blood and others being cut. what’s with that?? but that’s really my only gripe so far) the EMOTION IN HIS VOICE?!?!?!!?!?! HE’S SO????? the way he said “the patch of grass where we buried the dogs” made me sad /pos OOH THE WAY HE VOICE CRACKED(?) ON THAT THIRD OR FOURTH “i would’ve already left” SCRATCHED MY BRAIN
8. “this is for the children of divorce” or whatever he said. GOD he’s so real (child of almost divorce) i love this song fr hhrhrgrg. the way he said -sphere in atmosphere??? THE CHORUS???????? YOU GOT ALL MY LOVE 🗣️ this makes me wanna cry is that weird. i’m so happy for him. he sounds so happy and nervous at the same time. “we’d shake the FRAME OF YOUR CAR” the RASP chat……(looks at my previous ryan bingham obsession) “i was scared, i was scared to death” hrhrhrgh. THE LAST LINE OF THE BRIDGE. OH MY GOD NOAH KAHAN HAS DONE IT AGAIN. he could keep milking this stick season thing and i’d be happTHE FORCE OF THE LAST CHORUS???? take a shot every time he tells “BOSTON” /aff OH MY GOD THE HOLDING OF THE FJNAL “ALL”
9. oh the zoloft song. i am SO stoked. i need to hear this song live when i see him (23 days as of posting baybeeee) THE RASP. aw he didn’t do the sudden pitch change at “you ASK me why i wasn’t saying a word” lame……still love him. this song is the only one to get me CLOSE to goosebumps. i’ve never felt a physical reaction (other than tears) to a song. the force of it dude!!! the power in his voice!!! and i know that shit hurt
10. ouughdhh you’re gonna go far!!!! win!!! he sounds a little more relaxed here. he’s doing so well. they should’ve let me backstage to record him and occasionally yell “you’re doing so well sweetie!!” (i was not even NEAR massachusetts when this happened) “BOSTON” jumpscare. i fear my liver will look similarly to kahan’s by the time this album is over /silly “YOURE GODDAMN RIGHT WE WILL” i prefer that over the original “sure will” tbh. and i’m gonna take the opportunity to shout out his band. oh my god they’re amazing. all of them are so talented bro……….the way he sings “and we’ll all be here forever” i love his voice so much i am oso jealous (gender envy??) THE FINAL HIGH NYOES?????? NOAH KAHAN THE MAN YOU ARE
11: fucking win i love homesick. i love how angry the song is (in my head) also obsessed with the “yoo-hoo!!” glorious song. fucking hell. another boston jumpscare. i’m living for this. IM HOME—what. OH HELLO. i was confused aha. BUT FUCK YEAH WE’RE SO BACK IM HOMESICK 🗣️🗣️ that “yeeAAAAAAAAAAAAH” was glorious……..god i would be scared and winded too. damn. him thanking his parents oooh my heart……..
12. and immediately into a song about lying to your therapist (one of my all time favs. he better play this when i see him or else blood will be spilled /nsrs) i love this song sm i’m so glad it ended up on here (rip the great divide, young blood, etc, etc) OUGHHE i love the way he’s doing the chorus here. “EVEYRONES growing. and RVERYOENS HESLTHY!!!” GOD HIS VOICE HRHRHRHRHHG
13: my face lit up as soon as i heard it. she calls me back. this is also one of my alltime favorites. because yeah!!! everything IS alright when s(he) calls (texts) me back!!! (i’m aware this isn’t. the way i’m saying it is. and it usually isn’t but for now?? y’know) I STILL DIAL 822993167 🗣️🗣️🗣️ giving his band chances to sing … i lvoe him 10/10 no notes. this song is amazing dude hhrhrgg. THE BRIDGE GRAAAAAAAA (enjoying it)
14. ORANGE JUICE. i saw the video of him crying on twitter doing this song so i’m intrigued to see how that translates here. it’s probably gonna just be the same as the video? the audience taking over for a little. i also really love this song. it’s why i drink so much orange juice :3 (i drink a LOT of it. i’m not even a recovering alcoholic.) he already sounds like he’s breaking by the end of the first chorus but that’s just because i know he’s gonna cry??? idk why that’s so prominent to me. i like seeing men be comfortable enough to get emotional </3 “so why’d you go then? 😕” god i love this second chorus. it’s impossible to scream along (it is 1 AM so. i must push the demons down) OH THE HOLDING OF “crows” AND “pulling” AND “bones” IM DEAD. “BOoooOoOoOoOoONES IN THE COLD HARD GROUND” oh the little sigh……..the way his voice shakes and he thanks the audience i’m going to cry. “i don’t deserve this shit thank you” putting a gun to his head and chanting that he does. THE CROWD CHANTING HIS NAME i’m crying HIM APOLOGIZING FOR HIS FIRST PITCH i’m so. him calling out the individual band members he’s so. god this makes me wanna cry hhhh.
15: being an asshole in the northeast being cold as hell. immediately knew it was northern attitude. god this song is awesome. my DAD even likes this one. that’s saying something!!! god i love the instrumentals between verses and choruses. it sounds so fun to play and i would absolutely learn if i was talented enough (also. i do not have a drum set) “THREE FOUR” HIM DOING THE HOZIER VOCALIZING???????? he. ATE. jesus fucking CHRIST that was ethereal. i need his vocals NOW. BOSTON jumpscare. god i can only imagine he felt being there in front of all those people in his dream venue (i assume??). holy shit ok three more fuckin songs let’s go (wait….only two……..he lied….)
16. him playing mess is so ironic and honestly? i love it. but i love this song so fucking much i NEED him to play it when i see him. BOSTON jumpscare pt 29372 the percussion in this song makes me so happy for some reason. makes my ears feel good y’know? “it’s not what i had hoped/now i find comfort in the cold” does things to me you would not understand (lived somewhere cold for the majority of my life just to be plucked out of my winter wonderland and slapped into insane levels of humidity and heat)
16. VIEW BETWEEN VILLAGES YEREEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!! “and 603 too 🙄” god this song is the perfect driving song actually. most of his songs are good for driving to. this one is gonna be my exit song when i move out i swears it. i be singing “i’m 17 again” with my full chest when i ain’t even reached that age yet. the vocal riff on “it’s just me and the curve of the valley” OUGH. perfection. THIS SONG IS PERFECT FOR SCREAMJNG. i will take no questions at this time. i hope he does the extended version. he is. i win at life tbh. THE THINGS THAT I LOST HERE THE PEOPLE I KNEW. THEY GOT ME SURROUNDED FOR A MILE OR TWO has me wanting to sob tbh. i love this song sm. the whole graveyard thing also makes me feel a certain way. it’s so. GOOD. THE RASP AT “the cars in reverse/i’m gripping the wheel” IM GOING FERAL
17. stick season. bless. “who wants to get fucking sticky” oh he’s so funny /g stick season (song) was actually my first introduction to him. i had no idea how relevant this song would become just weeks later. after all that happened, revisiting this song made me feel seen? more than the traditional sad breakup song did and y’know what? i think kahan actually helped me quite a bit. he’s scarily relatable!! she calls me back feels like he read a page of my mental diary back in march and put it into lyrics SIDETRACK THE KAHAN FAMILY!!!! OUGHF THSI IS SO SPECIAL TO ME???????
but yeah uh. he’s definitely helped me through a bit, whether it’s for genuine comfort or just screaming along to let off steam. he’s become a huge part of my life and honestly? i’m glad i was introduced to him. even if the person that showed me him left, i’ve moved on and i’m happy now. i guess you could say i had a noah kahan style arc (stick season to forever pipeline)
overall thoughts? fucking glorious. i wish i had been there, but hey. this is close enough :)

Archival 17 [Long]
Winter - Spring 2024
Each day, clearly means more to me than it ever has Just we, just we, just we One body, really like a dream that you so softly pass to me, to me, to me
.
.
The snapping of my feet falls over the bones of the things I cannot fix Somedays we wake to find knives instead of fingers at the ends of our wrists and all along the curtain of the world we tear and shatter as we let the sunlight in the darkened room The silent grey ripped, a bad drawing on a sheet of paper I tell you this: Even you are not allowed in here
.
.
I'm truly in awe of being human If only I could never be the same A turning of liquid to muscle Where the dead have been life combs its hair
.
.
I thought I had broken the mirror between myself and the world But it's only a fracture and I can still see myself Splintered, smiling stupid
.
.
Only my eyes, so tired from sun drift side to side and move Frozen foot in icy boot I shake like held secrets from you
.
.
I cannot choose the heat of the steel or the coolness of the steel's shadow So I choose the blade itself Indifferent temperature You open the window naked in the moonlight I see the upside down of you I see you before you were born Blossoming before me Drinking water when your throat was torn If you fall you fall forever
.
.
The trick is not minding that it hurts.
.
.
Darkness, the breath that is and is not me Sighing like a sleeper in pursuit of a dream perpetually Beneath me and below me forever like water under the sky If I live just once perhaps it will feel like I never died I burn, I shiver, out of the sun and into this shadow Oh lord, let me be unseen She has kissed me All has shattered
.
.
The mountain is just a shadow in the glass The distance is nothing more to me than a doorway I pass in the hall Imagination is a mirror I wipe with my hand The water on my palm is a river leading me back to you
.
.
Here is another day. I cry as my feet touch the floor.
.
.
It is this to which I commit like bodies tied to wild horses As my skin tears I leave myself all along the earth The footsteps of a thousand people falling a thousand times on my flesh
.
.
The rotten fruit breaks A matter to thick to run The flower by the window is paired with an artificial one And when a pale bud blossoms from the real alive with dew Another from the mimic who learns to blossom too
.
.
I cannot be divided I cannot be kept from myself This door will never shut
No matter how hard I close it No matter how hard I twist I am stuck between worlds like a kiss between lips
.
.
The drop that has formed on the roof of my heart falls.
.
.
My heart closes up like a bird's wings folding My days have cracked and the light spills through its splinters
.
.
The illusion is upon me that this something appears rounded, with weight, complete This, for a moment, seems to be my life It it were possible, I would hand it to you entire like a branch broken forth from a tree Take it, take it, take me

Dealing with some hard conversations at work, needed a creative outlet. (Not fandom, original work)
600 words. CW: Blood / wounds. Implied harassment / abuse.
Dividers by cafekitsune.
Tell me what happened.
It's not enough to be known as good.
It's not enough to be that person who is safe to talk to, whose voice amplifies, whose power lifts others, if I don't wonder if that power
should be mine in the first place.
I have built calluses tearing down walls, and ripped my own hands ripping down systems at their seams.
I can build people structures society a safe place but at the end of the day all I have is the memory of the fight and the guilt of what if what if it was better before I came?
what if it was more before I questioned?
what if someone else could have done it better?
what if I hurt someone on the way to helping another who couldn't help themselves and now I don't know if I'm living the fucking trolley problem or if my motivations ever actually mattered.
'Cuz at the end of the day when I think about the "thank you for trying."
"thank you for making me feel like I mattered."
"thank you for telling me I wasn't crazy when I snapped at the hurt like a wolf in a trap and they told me I was overreacting even though it was MY LEG and YOUR TRAP."
I wonder if I'm the one you should be talking to.
'Cuz at the end of the day I go home and sit on my couch and ask myself a million times if I've told you about how much this will hurt.
Because it will hurt.
They will ask you "what happened?" and you will tell them that the hunter's trap mangled your leg.
And while the blood is dripping still wet running down your leg and you are still crying they will say
"He didn't mean it" "He had a bad day." "That's the way he is."
You will be reduced to a story and your story will be stacked against. Against his story. Against the story they will tell themselves. Against the stories who came before you.
At the end of the day when I get home and think of that stack of stories I can't help but wonder.
I don't know if any of it mattered.
I'll get up tomorrow and go to work.
And you, or you, or you will be standing at my door thinking that you are prepared to become another story.
Maybe this one will be heavy enough.
Maybe this time they'll let me sink my teeth into the hunter's neck. Maybe this time I can put my leg up on the table and rip open my jeans and show them the scars I carry.
They call me good because the world has asked me what happened and I showed them my bleeding leg with the blood and my cheeks still wet and they said
"He didn't mean it" "He had a bad day." "That's the way he is."
And nothing changes.
So at the end of the day I wonder if I should be the one you show your wounds to.
Was it better before we met? Was it better before I tore it down? Will I harm you in the name of helping you?
Eventually you will leave and I will stay and the memory of this will live longer in your head than mine and longer in mine than theirs and longer in theirs than his.
So am I truly safe, or am I letting you believe that because someone has to be?
What's that? Oh, come in. Tell me what happened.
